Kinderhuis Maminka

Kinderhuis Maminka is a small-scale private daycare centre located in a former Drenthe farmhouse at Veendijk 22a in Havelte. We provide care for up to 16 children aged 0 to 4 years in a homely and familiar setting. Our pedagogical approach is inspired by anthroposophy: we create a place where ‘the pedagogy of common sense and the warm heart’ is practised. At Maminka we work in small groups with a permanent team of well-trained pedagogical professionals. Everyone knows each other, from the youngest to the oldest, contributing to a safe and familiar atmosphere. Our spacious, sunny and child-friendly spaces invite play and discovery. For the little ones there is a separate sleeping area and quiet corners to retreat to. Outside we have a large, fully fenced garden with a vegetable patch, frog pond, orchard with willow tipi, a hay barn and a zip line. Children can play freely, garden and discover nature here. We believe it is important for children to spend a lot of time outdoors and to be in contact with the seasons and the natural environment. We work closely with parents and carers. There is room for contact at pick-up and drop-off times and appointments can always be made for additional consultation. Our childcare feels for children like ‘almost home’: a second best home where they can be themselves and grow up in a warm, safe environment.
