Welcome to LPS Peuteropvang Sint Maarten, located at Vijverstraat 17 in Halsteren. We are part of the Lowys Porquinstichting and provide care for toddlers aged 2 to 4 years. Our location is integrated within Sint Maarten primary school, allowing us to offer a seamless transition between toddler care and primary education. Our focus is on safe play and learning through play. We provide your toddler with a familiar environment full of opportunities for discovery, play and fun. Our pedagogical staff have a great passion for books and use these during themes and projects to stimulate children's language development. We work with the VVE programme 'Startblokken van de basisontwikkeling' and the IPC concept, where the emphasis is on developing skills rather than knowledge transfer. Our playroom is set up with different play corners: a construction corner, home corner, arts and crafts corner, puzzle corner and games corner. These corners change regularly with the themes to keep learning through play challenging and to stimulate toddlers' curiosity. Additionally, we use the Nijntje movement diploma, a series of movement lessons where your child has weekly play fun while learning all essential basic forms of movement. We believe it's important that children learn who they are and feel safe and valued. Therefore, we pay much attention to giving and receiving compliments. 'I am okay and you are okay' is what we encourage during play and themes. We work closely with Sint Maarten primary school and De Springplank primary school to offer one continuous learning and development line. Using the KIJK! observation method, we follow your toddler's development and discuss findings with parents and the teacher during a warm handover to the kindergarten class. Our toddler care is open from 8:30 – 11:30 AM and 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Toddlers who come in the afternoon enjoy eating a sandwich with us. It's also possible to stay at the toddler care from 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM. We use the same themes as groups 1 and 2 as much as possible and regularly organize joint activities, ensuring a smooth transition to primary school.
