Leef Kind Melick BSO

Welcome to Leef Kind Melick BSO, located on the ground floor of primary school De Achtbaan at John F. Kennedysingel 25 in the centre of Melick. We are the out-of-school care facility for children aged 4 to 12 from the entire municipality of Roerdalen, offering care before school, during lunch breaks, after school, on teacher-training days and throughout all school holidays. Our BSO consists of three age-homogeneous groups. The youngest children (4–6 years) play together in the room that is also used by the toddler programme. The middle group (6–9 years) has its own classroom filled with age-appropriate materials, while the oldest children (9–12 years) enjoy extra freedom and responsibility. All groups share access to our spacious indoor gym and the adjacent outdoor area with basketball court and football goals. A large sports field lies right next to the school for the real athletes. We believe in learning through play and work from the principle ‘almost anything is allowed, nothing is required’. Our pedagogical staff offer a wide range of daily activities, from clay and craft workshops to sports and games clinics. Together with the children we maintain our own vegetable garden, the ‘Rebbitshaof’; sowing, planting, watering and harvesting are all part of the programme. We regularly take the whole group across the street to the playground. Parents provide a packed lunch for half or full care days; during holiday care we serve a healthy, hot lunch. For children who cannot travel to school independently, our own minibuses run a fixed pick-up and drop-off route to and from primary schools in Melick and the surrounding area. Every change in attendance is arranged through our parent portal, so parents always know their child is safely in the right place. At Leef Kind Melick BSO fun comes first, but we also value structure. We work with fixed daily routines, clear agreements and short lines of communication with the teachers of De Achtbaan. This gives every child the peace to unwind after a busy school day and the space to discover new things. We look forward to welcoming your son or daughter as well!
