Koetje Boe

Welcome to Koetje Boe, our small-scale, homely daycare centre located at Raadhuisplein 6 in the heart of Haps. Since 2006 we have offered a warm second home for children from 10 weeks up to 4 years old – right up to the day they proudly sling their little backpacks over their shoulders and set off to primary school. We work in one vertical group. Babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are all together. This creates calm, familiarity and the chance to learn from one another. The youngest watch the older children and grow along with them; the pre-schoolers develop caring skills and self-confidence. Our team of dedicated pedagogical staff really knows every child. We keep track of sleep rhythms, feeding preferences, favourite cuddly toys and every tiny developmental step. Where necessary we adapt our approach so that each child feels safe and valued. Outdoor play is just as important as indoor time. We have a large discovery garden where children can run, build sandcastles, pick flowers or simply get deliciously dirty. Every day includes outdoor play – even when it rains. Indoors we provide quiet corners for naps, a cosy reading nook and a creative table for clay, drawing or crafts. The very youngest have a separate bedroom with cribs and blackout curtains; toddlers and pre-schoolers can rest on beds in the quiet corner. We offer pre-school activities in our 3+ group. Through play we practise letters, counting, co-operation and independence. This makes the transition to Year 1 smooth and confident. Parents receive photos and messages via an app: ‘Look, today he did up his coat all by himself!’ or ‘She’s made friends with Emma.’ In short, at Koetje Boe children find calm, space and loving attention. We make sure they leave with a big smile and a backpack full of confidence – ready for the next step.
