We are KleintjeZuid de Rivieren, a half-day daycare centre right in the Rivierenbuurt district of Amsterdam South. Monday through Friday we welcome children aged 0 to 4 from 8:15 AM to 1:45 PM in a homely, safe environment where every child is given the space to grow at their own pace. Our location at Lekstraat 37 is specially designed for the very youngest. We work with small-scale groups so that each child receives the attention they deserve. Our pedagogical staff invest daily in the development of every child, so that they can face the future with the necessary skills and confidence. According to us, you cannot start early enough; later begins today. A unique part of our programme is the collaboration with City Plot, the urban farming collective. From spring to autumn the children enjoy fun and educational garden lessons. During these lessons we are outside and the children learn where their food comes from, about healthy eating, how they can grow vegetables and fruit themselves, connection with – and contact and respect for – nature. Of course the children love digging with their hands in the soil and tasting the harvest. From our harvest we make all kinds of things, from mint tea to strawberry jam – fun, educational and delicious! As an early-years provision we actively contribute to a smooth transition to primary school. We offer a structured programme that connects with the world of experience of young children and their developmental needs. Our spaces are carefully furnished with high-quality materials, including the special 'Koeka Corner' for the very youngest – a corner where soft security and sustainability come together.
