Welcome to Klein Alkmaar Beethovensingel 17, our intimate day-care centre located right in the heart of the neighbourhood. We provide care for a maximum of 16 children aged 0–4, which allows us to give every child plenty of space and personal attention. Our rooms are bright, modern and homely; each group has its own area that we close off at nap time yet open up during the day to create extra play space. When the children go to sleep we use outdoor cribs—always in consultation with parents—so they enjoy fresh air, natural daylight and the soothing sounds of wind and birds. They sleep longer and more deeply, build up resistance and wake up happier. Our green outdoor playground is an adventure in itself: a sandpit, barefoot path, willow-branch tipis, vegetable patches, slide and plenty of room to ride bikes. Themes are central to our pedagogical programme. We work with short, recognisable themes that match the world of babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers—think ‘the garden’, ‘animals around us’ or ‘water’. Through activities such as reading aloud, singing, crafts and exploring nature we stimulate language, motor skills and social development. Our experienced pedagogical staff monitor each child’s development closely and tailor activities accordingly. Klein Alkmaar Beethovensingel 17 works closely with primary school Nicolaas Beets, located at the same address. These short lines ensure a smooth transition to pre-school and early-years classes. We offer both day care and pre-school care, using Early Childhood Education programmes to prepare children for primary school in a playful way. Parents experience us as involved, social and flexible.
