KinderRijk day care MacGillavrylaan is situated in Amsterdam Science Park, on the edge of Watergraafsmeer. As part of the Stichting KinderRijk foundation, we provide care for up to 60 children aged 0 to 4. Our location consists of four vertical groups, where children of different ages play and learn together. This setup fosters natural development and social interaction among children. A day with us begins calmly between 08:00 and 09:15, when parents drop off their child and we briefly discuss how the child is doing. We then start with a table moment: we sing songs, talk about experiences and discuss the day's activities. In between, we have a small snack and drink. Around 10:30 there is time for free play and targeted developmental activities, both indoors in the group rooms or central hall and outdoors in our own garden. Activities are tailored to the age and interests of the children and can range from making music and reading books to arts and crafts and exploring nature. At 11:30 we have lunch together. We offer both bread meals and hot meals, depending on the daily programme. Older children help set and clear the table. After lunch, around 13:00, younger children nap in our quiet sleeping areas, while older children have a rest moment in the group. Once they are rested, they can play freely. Around 15:00 a small meal is served again. Afterwards, children can choose to join an activity or play freely. From 16:00 parents can pick up their child. We take ample time for a handover with the pedagogical staff member, discussing how the day went and what developments were observed. Our pedagogical staff are ready to give every child a safe and secure feeling, so they can be themselves and develop optimally. We work with a fixed daily schedule that is flexibly adapted to the needs of the children. For babies, we follow their own rhythm.
