Welcome to day-care centre Maalderij, a welcoming and small-scale location in the Bovenkerk neighbourhood in Amstelveen-Zuid. We are part of Stichting KinderRijk, a trusted name in childcare in Amsterdam and Amstelveen for over 55 years. Our approach is built on four pillars: fun, respect, development and imagination. Our qualified staff provide children aged 0 to 4 with a safe, stimulating environment where they can explore who they are and what they can do through play. We run three vertical day-care groups where children of different ages play and learn together. In addition, we offer a day-care plus group for toddlers aged 2 to 4 who may benefit from extra support. This group welcomes up to 10 children and is guided by two senior educational staff members, ensuring each child receives the individual attention needed to develop at their own pace. We maintain close links with external specialists and follow a structured daily programme to ensure a smooth transition to primary school. Our day starts between 7:30 and 9:15 a.m. with a warm welcome and a brief chat with parents. We then gather around the table for songs, conversation and a small snack. The morning is filled with free play and developmental activities: painting in the studio, reading together or exploring the garden with a magnifying glass. At 11:30 a.m. we share lunch, with older children helping to set and clear the table. After a nap or quiet time, children enjoy a healthy snack around 3 p.m. and can join an activity or continue free play. Pick-up begins at 4 p.m. with a personal hand-over. Healthy food, sustainability and safety are central to our ethos. We serve both cold and warm meals, cater for allergies and use organic produce whenever possible. Our spacious garden invites outdoor play and nature exploration. Parents stay informed through our parent app and receive priority placement in our after-school care once their child starts primary school.
