Welcome to Zien Daycare Centre de Buitenhof, located at Eemsgolaan 11 in Groningen. We provide care for children aged 0 to 4 in a homely and inspiring environment. Our location has a separate baby group and toddler group, each with its own trusted space tailored to the children’s developmental stage. We follow the pedagogical vision of Reggio Emilia and Emmi Pikler. We believe every child is born with a hundred languages—such as music, dance, art, nature, science and sport—and that all these languages deserve to be explored. Our rooms are designed as studios and discovery gardens, indoors and outdoors. Natural materials, light and shadow, scents and tastes: everything is arranged to invite children to play and investigate. Our pedagogical staff offer genuine attention and follow each child’s individual rhythm. For the youngest this means calm care, bottle feeding on demand, and a separate sleeping room with cribs. For toddlers we organise activities such as cooking and baking, music, dance and creative expression. We use Early Childhood Education programmes to prepare children playfully for primary school. Outside we have a large, secure garden with a sandpit, slide, climbing frames and natural play areas. We devote much attention to outdoor play and nature experience. We also accommodate allergies and dietary needs; fresh fruit, healthy snacks and drinks are included. Parents can contact our active parent committee and we offer care 52 weeks per year, with flexible half or full days.
