Kinderopvang Wantij

Kinderopvang ‘t Wantij is a small-scale, homely daycare centre located on the edge of the village of Buren on Ameland island. We welcome up to eight children aged 0 – 4 in one mixed-age group, allowing every child to develop at his or her own pace. Our qualified staff provide a safe, open environment in which the uniqueness of each child is the starting point for everything we do. The group room is arranged into clearly defined learning corners: a cosy doll corner, an inviting block area, a soft baby corner, a large garage with cars and a creative arts & crafts table. A separate changing area and a quiet sleep room with individual beds ensure that babies can rest undisturbed while older children continue to play and explore. Outside, children have access to a spacious, natural playground where they can run, climb and investigate the world around them. Our daily programme is built around the national VVE curriculum “Uk & Puk”, a play-based method that gently stimulates language, numeracy, motor and social-emotional skills. Songs, stories, construction play and sensory activities are all tailored to the developmental stage of each child. Progress is monitored with the KIJK observation tool; outcomes are discussed with parents during short consultations and passed on to primary school to guarantee a smooth educational pathway. Flexibility is key: you may book a full day (07:30 – 18:30), a morning (07:30 – 12:30) or an afternoon (12:30 – 18:30). Occasional extra days or swapping days is possible in consultation with the team. The centre is open 51 weeks per year, closing only between Christmas and New Year, and holiday care is available during school breaks. Fresh fruit and water are provided during the sessions; parents supply any additional meals and, if needed, formula or expressed milk. All staff are trained in recognising developmental delays and work according to a transparent safety and behaviour policy.
