Welcome to childcare centre ut Buurke, a professional, small-scale childcare facility located on a dairy farm in the hamlet of Kelmond, right on the edge of the municipality of Beek. In addition to professional childcare, your children get the unique opportunity to explore a challenging, large outdoor space and learn to enjoy the peace, space and everything nature has to offer. At our childcare centre we apply green pedagogy. This means we like to keep the children active and provide them with a challenging, calm, green environment in which we can optimally stimulate their development. A day at ut Buurke combines a fixed structure with plenty of variety. The daycare children eat and drink in the living-room kitchen, where activities such as clay work, cookie baking and story time take place. There is also ample room for free play in different corners (e.g. construction corner, doll corner), singing songs and playing games. The space is cosily and calmly decorated and age-appropriate toys are available for every age. Outside there is a large, fenced play area where children can play to their heart’s content with sand, water, grass and nature. When it has rained we put on the available overalls and boots. Outdoors we regularly search for materials to craft with, such as leaves, chestnuts, branches and corn. Adjacent to the playground is an animal paddock where, under supervision, children can care for and cuddle sheep, rabbits and chickens. In our own vegetable garden the children plant seedlings so they can grow their own herbs and fruit. In this playful way children learn where our food comes from. In addition, we visit the cows or calves at least once a day. When extra activities take place on the farm, such as grass silaging or a vet visit, the children can watch under supervision. Safety is paramount for us, emotionally, socially and physically. Everything is secured with fencing and children cannot escape. They can only visit the farm under supervision. Our childcare centre is open every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., excluding official public holidays. We provide daycare for children from 0 to 4 years. At childcare centre ut Buurke, children can simply enjoy being children!
