Welcome to Kinderopvang ’t Herdertje location KDV and SPW Spectrum, located at Volkerakweg 1 in Hoorn. We are proud to be part of the Integral Child Center (IKC) Het Spectrum, where childcare and primary education come together seamlessly. Our daycare offers care for up to 32 children aged 0 to 4 years. We work in age groups, so each child receives care and attention suited to their developmental stage. Everything we do revolves around learning through play. We provide a safe, homely environment where children can grow at their own pace. Our pedagogical staff use DoenKids, an online activity database, to offer challenging activities every day. Think of making music, dancing, crafting, reading aloud, cooking, and discovering nature. We work thematically: every four weeks we start a new theme, adapting the spaces and materials accordingly. This keeps the environment both stimulating and familiar. We believe it’s important for children to get to know the world around them. That’s why we regularly go on excursions. We visit places like the bakery, florist, pet shop or supermarket. We also make trips to nearby playgrounds and our own little beach in the neighborhood. Outdoor play is a fixed part of the day. Our natural playground is specially designed to stimulate all areas of development. Children can play with water and sand, ride bikes on built-in paths, or simply run and climb. For the youngest children, we provide all basic care: diapers, wipes, bottle feeding and quiet moments in our cozy sleeping areas. For toddlers from 2 years old, there is the option to join our toddler group Spelenderwijs. Here they get acquainted with primary education at Het Spectrum in a playful way. We offer all children pre- and early school education (VVE), so they are well prepared for their school career. We work closely with primary school Het Spectrum and other partners such as the Center for Youth and Family, the library and speech therapy. This way we offer a continuous learning path from childcare to primary school. Parents can use our parent app for overview and communication.
