Kinderopvang Koek en Ei

Kinderopvang Koek en Ei Valkenbos is located in a characteristic ground-floor home at Laan van Meerdervoort 428 in The Hague. We provide small-scale, sustainable childcare for up to 10 children aged 0–4 years in one vertical group. The space radiates calm and homeliness thanks to its beautiful wooden floors and old ornaments; we stay as close as possible to a home situation in which younger children learn from the older ones and the older children help the younger. Our day begins with baking organic bread together. Afterwards we all sit down at the table for a calm breakfast with fresh fruit and drinks. Then we head out: we wander through Valkenbos, watch autumn leaves dance in the wind, splash in puddles and feel the sun on our faces. Back in our little house we enjoy the bread we baked ourselves and put every child to bed in a separate sleeping room. After the rest we gather at the table again for a playful afternoon. We sail in a wooden vegetable crate, pet the rabbits in our own garden or climb the tree. There is always room for quietly puzzling or being read to from our books. All materials are made of wood, wool or textiles; sustainability and nature experience are central to everything we do. Kinderopvang Koek en Ei was founded in 2013 by Esther and Ahmed out of the wish to offer their own children – and every child who comes to us – a place where wonder, rituals and respect for nature are self-evident. We look forward to welcoming your child into our warm, green world.
