Kinderopvang Koek en Ei

Kinderopvang Koek en Ei is a small-scale, sustainable daycare located at Laan van Meerdervoort 162 in The Hague’s Zeeheldenkwartier. We welcome up to 15 children aged 0–4 in one vertical group where babies, toddlers and preschoolers play and learn together. The setting is a cosy downstairs apartment with wooden floors and period details, creating a calm, homely atmosphere that feels like an extension of your own living room. Our day begins with baking organic bread together. While the scent of fresh bread fills the room, children and staff sit around the table for a relaxed breakfast. Afterwards we head outside: we watch autumn leaves dance in the wind, splash in puddles and feel the sun on our faces. Nature is our greatest classroom; children learn by looking, feeling, smelling and experiencing. Back at Koek en Ei we share another slice of our home-baked bread before everyone enjoys a rest in the sleep room or quiet corners of the group space. In the afternoon there is plenty of time for free play. Children explore with wooden, woollen and textile toys, harvest vegetables in our garden, stroke the rabbits or climb the tree. A stack of picture books is always within reach for anyone who wants to curl up with a story. By offering these open-ended materials and natural surroundings we respect each child’s imagination, pace and unique way of developing. We see children as plants that will naturally blossom when we provide the right conditions. Parents experience Kinderopvang Koek en Ei as an extension of home. We start with a personal intake conversation so parents and educators get to know each other well. During the childcare period we keep in touch through brief chats at drop-off and pick-up and, if desired, by e-mail. Mutual respect and equality are essential to us, creating a warm, safe environment in which children can thrive.
