BSO in de Wolken is a small-scale, arts-oriented after-school care centre located in a characteristic old farmhouse at Hogeweide 6 in Leidsche Rijn. We provide care for up to 40 primary-school children aged 4 to 12. What makes us unique is our fixed creative curriculum: every week the children take part in drama, dance or singing lessons delivered by enthusiastic professional teachers. The atmosphere is homely and secure; we work in mixed-age groups so children of different years learn with and from each other. Our site offers plenty of outdoor space to play, explore and run around. After school we collect the children from nearby primary schools; transport is always provided by our own familiar staff. The afternoon starts with a moment to unwind: a healthy snack and a quiet chat about the school day. Children then choose whether to join the creative lesson, play freely in the garden, get busy in the art studio or simply curl up with a book. During school holidays we organise extra outings and workshops, from a visit to Rotterdam Zoo to producing our own musical. Parents are actively involved through regular parent evenings and are always welcome to drop in for coffee and a look behind the scenes. We offer flexible care days (Monday to Thursday) and work with parents to create a schedule that matches their working hours.
