Welcome to Kinderopvang Fluitenkruid, located at Stevinstraat 190 in The Hague. We are a small-scale daycare centre that welcomes up to 16 children per day in a single horizontal group for children aged 0 to 4 years. Our homely building is only a short walk from Westbroekpark and offers a calm, natural environment where children feel safe and secure. We believe every child is unique, so we combine free play with activities that match each child’s developmental stage. Every day we go outside: we stroll through the Pex woods or explore the neighbourhood. In our spacious garden the children discover what nature has to offer – from autumn leaves to spring flowers. We use natural materials wherever possible and set up a seasonal table inside to reflect what is happening outdoors. Structure and rhythm shape our daily schedule. At 9:30 a.m. we gather at the table for fruit and a song, then head outside. Around 11:45 a.m. we share a warm, organic lunch prepared according to the menu designed by our nutrition coach. After lunch the younger children rest or sleep while older ones enjoy quiet play or story time. At the end of the afternoon there is free play or a creative activity at the table. Each week the children enjoy a music session led by a “Muziek op schoot” teacher and toddler yoga twice a month with a specialised yoga instructor. We also celebrate seasonal festivals such as Advent, St Nicholas and St John’s; birthdays are special too, marked by a felt crown, songs and a small gift. For the youngest children we follow the rhythm of home. We use eco-friendly nappies and natural care products. Formula is available and composed in consultation with you. Every baby has a personal cot and may bring a cuddly toy from home. Our regular pedagogical staff – three to four each day – ensure continuity and a familiar face. Each child also has a dedicated mentor who is your main contact. We are open 52 weeks a year from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closing only on official public holidays. During the intake we create a tailor-made settling-in plan together with you. After your child has started, we keep in touch: you receive a short daily report via WhatsApp and we schedule parent meetings twice a year. Together we build a warm second home where your child can develop to the fullest.
