Kinderopvang De Vlieger

Welcome to Kinderopvang De Vlieger, a warm and homely daycare centre located at Ceintuurbaan 187 H in Amsterdam. Since January 2010, we have been offering childcare for children aged 0 to 4 in an anthroposophical environment that feels like a second home. We operate with two fixed core groups: on the ground floor is our baby/toddler group for up to 9 children aged 0 to 2.5 years, and on the first floor is our toddler group for up to 13 children aged 1.5 to 4 years. The baby group does not accept children younger than 4.5 months. Our pedagogical approach is profound and carefully considered. We believe that pedagogy is the art of recognising the hidden talents in children and giving them the space to develop optimally. Our permanent pedagogical staff form a secure base for the children and work according to a clear pedagogical policy that we established in 2010. This policy is not only intended for inspection purposes but above all to ensure a consistent and loving approach. Children are cared for in a living-room-like environment that radiates the atmosphere of a cosy family life. We provide a homely setting with lots of natural materials, wooden toys and a large green garden at the rear where children can play every day. There is a separate section for the baby group, so each age group can move around safely and appropriately. Our activities are aligned with the anthroposophical vision: we sing many songs, read aloud, create artworks with seasonal themes and pay attention to the natural rhythms of the day and the year. We work with fixed daily routines and symbols such as Kabouter Krispijn, which gives children structure and calm. We do not use screens and do not take photos during the day, so children can fully immerse themselves in their play and imagination. Each child has a fixed mentor who is the point of contact for parents and who closely monitors the child's development through observations and conversations. We work with small groups and a low child-to-staff ratio, ensuring lots of individual attention for each child. Parents experience our care as an extension of their own parenting: warm, respectful and child-centred. Kinderopvang De Vlieger is a small-scale, loving place where children feel safe and seen. We do not offer childcare, but a home.
