Kindergarden Utrecht Terwijde

Welcome to Kindergarden Terwijde, our after-school care (BSO) in Utrecht-West, located in one of the Netherlands’ oldest farmhouses. Situated in the Terwijde neighbourhood at Louis Armstrongboulevard 50, we offer a warm, homely place where children aged 4 to 12 can unwind after school or burn off energy. Led by location manager Leonie Dix, our team welcomes every child into an environment rich with authentic character and a spacious garden. A day at our BSO is not an extension of school but a cool club where children decide what they want to do. We involve the children in shaping the programme: they tell us which activities they enjoy, what play materials they would like, and which rules we agree on together. This mix of participation, calm and structure makes our BSO a place where every child feels at home. Our creative spaces invite discovery. In the atelier children can let their imagination run free with wood, stone, clay, paint and ecoline. We challenge them to design, build and create, going far beyond simple crafts. The large garden offers plenty of room for football, climbing, scrambling or simply running around. During holidays we organise themed weeks such as ‘On the Farm’, including a visit to a real petting zoo. We also run workshops and excursions, for example to a playground, a strawberry farm or an ice-cream maker where children can make their own ice cream. We collect children from school by BSO bus, cargo bike or on foot, depending on distance. On Wednesdays and Fridays, when school finishes early, we provide a healthy lunch of whole-grain bread, varied toppings and yoghurt. Throughout the day a healthy buffet is available with raw vegetables, fruit, yoghurt with muesli and nuts. We encourage children to start with the raw vegetables and offer water or lukewarm tea to drink. During school holidays and study days children are welcome from 07:30 to 18:30. In short, Kindergarden Terwijde is a place where children can be themselves, discover new things and create happy memories.
