Kindergarden Amsterdam Vondelstraat

Welcome to Kindergarden Amsterdam Vondelstraat, a beautiful, characteristic building in the heart of the city where space and tranquillity are paramount. Our daycare centre provides care for children from 0 to 4 years in a warm, homely interior that is fully tailored to the needs of young children. We work with horizontal groups: two baby groups (0-2 years), one toddler group (1-3 years) and two pre-school groups (2-4 years), so every child is surrounded by peers. Our large, leafy city garden is a true play oasis. Under the impressive old beech tree, children can cycle, scoot and romp around. For the very youngest we have a separate, safe terrace with a sandbox, so they too can enjoy being outside in summer. In our vegetable garden, toddlers learn to plant, care for and harvest herbs, strawberries and radishes – a direct, tasty introduction to nature. We stimulate development in a targeted and enjoyable way. We offer baby massage and baby yoga for the very youngest, allowing them to experience body awareness and relaxation through play. Toddlers follow pre-school yoga and move daily in our Friends call me Jim room, where an interactive movement programme is provided on an individual basis. Music lessons by a regular guest teacher are on every schedule: singing, rhythm and sound-making not only stimulate language but also group feeling. In the creative studio we work with magic sand and other special materials, with small groups receiving extra attention to let their imagination run free. Safety, trust and emotional security form the basis of our pedagogical approach. Our pedagogical staff are trained to see and follow every child, so that development can take place on an individual basis. A pedagogical expert is on hand for additional guidance and expertise. All our spaces are set up at child height, with recognisable corners and furniture that grows with the children. This allows them to make their own choices and feel safe and at home in an environment that suits them perfectly.
