Kindergarden Amsterdam Steigereiland

Welcome to Kindergarden Steigereiland in Amsterdam-East! Our after-school care is located at the beginning of IJburg, close to the A10, in a neighborhood rich in water and children. We offer a homely place where children aged 4 to 12 can relax, play and discover after school. Listening to the children is our top priority. That’s why we align all our activities with them. Every afternoon we offer two activities that are listed on a memo board. The children choose what they want to do, or use the space to just chill out. Our 8+ kids have their own corner and their own memo board where they can note activities for the whole week. This way they learn to take responsibility and consider others. Sports and creativity are central. In the summer we organize many sports activities in our spacious, green garden. During the winter period we focus on crafts, cooking and indoor movement. We have snowball fights with artificial snowballs, organize disco evenings and give performances. Our small elevation serves as a stage where children devise and perform their own shows. Theme weeks alternate with free input. We cook together, craft with natural materials from the garden and move to music. The garden offers plenty of space to run, play and discover. The quiet location on the edge of Amsterdam makes our location a nice place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Kindergarden Steigereiland is there for children who, after school, need rest, structure and cosiness. We create a safe environment in which every child can be themselves and grow at their own pace.
