Welcome to Daycare ’t Huisje, our small-scale childcare centre at Weimarstraat 213 in the heart of The Hague. We provide care for up to ten children aged 0 to 4 in a homely ground-floor apartment that we lovingly renovated into a bright, fresh and calm space. Our house radiates tranquillity: separate sleeping rooms, a cosy living room where we can give a small group some quiet time, a kitchen and a spacious green garden with soft artificial turf where children can play and explore safely. Personal attention and a warm environment are at the heart of what we do. We start with one horizontal group so babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers grow up together and learn from one another. Every day we prepare a fresh, warm meal in our own kitchen; we believe in healthy food and let the children discover tastes and textures from an early age. Fruit and snacks are included and we provide bottle feeding for the youngest. At least once a day we go outside. We walk to the nearby park or explore the neighbourhood; this way the children get to know the world beyond our house and develop their senses. Indoors we create a calm, low-stimulus environment where children can sleep, play and be themselves. Our pedagogical approach is inspired by the ideas of Janusz Korczak: we take every child seriously, listen to what they need and give them space to be who they are. “Every child has the right to be as they are” – we live this every day. Our centre is open from 07:30 to 18:00. We have been officially registered since 14 March 2023 and meet all national quality standards, allowing parents to apply for childcare allowance.
