KDV Soosje

Welcome to KDV SOOSje, located at Kopseweg 7 inside primary school De Klokkenberg, right next to the green Kopsehof area in Nijmegen. SOOSje is a small-scale daycare centre that welcomes up to 14 children per day in one vertical family-style group. Children aged 0 to 4 play, learn and grow together, just like siblings in a large family. Our bright group room is carefully divided into themed corners that match the world of young children. Babies rest in a quiet corner with cribs and soft toys, while toddlers build towers in the construction area or cook imaginary meals in the kitchen corner. Picture books await in the cosy reading nook and creative projects come to life at the instruction table. Every child can play at their own pace and still learn from the older or younger friends around them. Sleeping takes place both indoors and outdoors. Inside we have a separate sleeping area with fixed beds; when the weather allows, children love to nap in the fresh air in our outdoor sleeping space. Each child has their own bedding so familiar scents and routines are preserved. Health and nutrition matter to us. Children drink water, plain or flavoured naturally with a slice of fruit. Snacks consist of fresh fruit, yoghurt or raw vegetables. For lunch we first spread a brown or whole-grain slice with vegetable spread, then children choose from chicken fillet, peanut butter, apple syrup or vegetable spread again. Parents bring formula for babies; we provide calm bottle-feeding moments. Our qualified pedagogical staff follow the pedagogical policy of Stichting SOOS. They observe every child closely, tailor activities to developmental stages and offer early childhood education (VVE). Toddlers enjoy sensory play, songs and movement games. Preschoolers practise language, counting and colours during play and receive extra challenges in the adjacent after-school-care area of De Klokkenberg. From the age of three they can join preparatory activities that ease the transition to primary school. Parents and children see largely the same faces for four years.
