KDV Moederskind B.V.

BSO Moederskind is located at Balijelaan 54A in Utrecht’s Rivierenwijk district. We provide daily after-school care for up to 20 children aged 4–12. Our pedagogical staff collect the children from the nearby Gertrudisschool; it is only a short walk to our premises. Children are free to play at our BSO. We believe play is learning: while playing, children gain experiences and discover the world. The shared experience is more important to us than the outcome of any activity. Through interaction with others, children naturally learn traits that shape their personalities. In addition to free play, we offer theme-based activities in the fields of nature, technology, cooking, crafts and movement. Children decide for themselves what they do and with whom; we facilitate and guide where necessary. Each child belongs to a fixed core group with its own pedagogical staff member, yet thanks to our open-door policy children can also play in other groups and meet older and younger peers. Healthy food is part of a pleasant BSO day. We eat plenty of vegetables and fruit and drink water or tea. Even during holidays we choose healthy sandwich fillings whenever possible. We take children’s opinions seriously: as they grow older we involve them more and more in arranging the room, choosing toys and planning activities. Safety and quality are paramount to us. All staff members hold a Certificate of Good Conduct and we apply the four-eyes principle. We use the digital Kijk! tracking system to discuss each child’s development with parents annually and actively cooperate with parents and, if necessary, with support agencies.
