We are Day-care Centre De Ontdekking, located at St. Annastraat 8 in the heart of Gemert. In our homely premises we provide day-care for up to 57 children aged 0–4. This location has three horizontal groups: De Coconnetjes (0–2 years), De Rupsjes (0–4 years) and De Vlinders (2–4 years). Each group has its own familiar room that we regularly enrich so your child can keep discovering new things. The child is always centre stage: “Your child is the main character.” We create a safe voyage of discovery in a homely atmosphere by putting security and warmth first. Our pedagogical staff do not follow one single educational theory; instead we combine insights from several pedagogues into our own proven approach. A visible “pedagogical quality tree” in every group translates the statutory basic objectives into concrete group goals that we evaluate every three months and to which we devote extra attention. Play is our most important instrument. The rooms are arranged with different corners for imaginative play, construction, crafts and quiet moments. We aim to go outside with the children at least twice a day for a minimum of twenty minutes. In our garden you will find a sandpit that stimulates concepts such as hard, soft, wet and dry, and a discovery garden full of natural materials where children can move and experiment. When the weather is nice we also offer the possibility of sleeping outdoors. Each child is assigned a personal mentor: a staff member who keeps a special eye on development and well-being and who is the fixed point of contact for parents. She follows the child-tracking system and arranges the warm hand-over to the primary school of your choice. Early childhood education (VVE) is standard with us; we work specifically on language and speech stimulation so that your child starts school with a solid foundation. Our day-care is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and until 6:30 p.m. on request. We provide bottle feeding, fruit, bread meals and drinks. Nappies and wipes are included, as are sunscreen and other care products. Parents use our handy app for registrations, swapping days and direct contact with the group.
