About this care

AI
Welcome to Kindercentrum Prinses Amalia at Spaanseweg 20 in Rotterdam. Since 1 January 2022 we are part of KindeRdam, yet our name and familiar location remain unchanged. Children aged 0 to 4 find a warm place to play, learn and grow. We work with horizontal groups: separate baby, toddler and preschool groups so that every child receives care and stimulation suited to his or her developmental stage. Our youngest guests are welcomed in four baby groups with a maximum of eight children each. Feeding, sleeping and playing follow each baby’s individual rhythm; there is no fixed schedule. Two consistent caregivers are present every day to provide a safe and familiar environment. For toddlers we have two groups with up to eleven children. In this phase we encourage first steps towards independence: dressing themselves, first words and sentences, and coping with saying goodbye to mum or dad. Our preschool groups consist of four horizontal groups for children aged 2 and 3. We guide and stimulate the rapid development that occurs during this age. Children who need extra support can join our preschool-plus group with a maximum of ten children. We offer early childhood education (VVE) and pay special attention to language development. Nature plays an important role in our programme. Our courtyard features vegetable gardens where toddlers and preschoolers sow and harvest themselves. They learn about seasonal vegetables, soil creatures and discover how food grows. We regularly visit the petting farm where children meet horses, cows, sheep, chickens and pigs. In this way they develop respect for animals and nature from an early age. Every day we cook fresh, warm meals in our own kitchen. We use organic ingredients whenever possible, serve vegetarian meals and include seasonal vegetables. Snacks consist of cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumber and bell peppers. Parental involvement is important to us: an active parent committee works with us and we value parents as experts who know their child best. Our doors are open Monday to Friday from 07.00 to 18.30, including school holidays.
