Kindercentrum De Ontdekking

Welcome to Kindercentrum De Ontdekking, located at Rijzertlaan 242 in ’s-Hertogenbosch. We are a day-care centre (KDV) for children aged 0 to 4 and are part of Stichting Kanteel. Our mission is to offer a safe, homely environment in which your child is free to grow, play and discover. Our pedagogical staff work according to the principle “Your child is the main character”. We use a clear pedagogical quality tree built around the four core objectives of the Dutch Childcare Act: emotional security, personal competence, social skills and the acquisition of values and norms. Every three months we set specific group goals and align activities and attention accordingly. Play is the main instrument: each group contains different play corners that are regularly enriched to match the children’s world of experience and interests. Outside we have a sandpit that stimulates imaginative play and a discovery garden where children can explore natural materials and move around freely. We aim to go outside at least twice a day for a minimum of twenty minutes. We also provide Early Childhood Education (VE) to lay a solid foundation in language and development from an early age. Creative activities such as painting, crafting and cooking are offered regularly; together with the children we devise the most enjoyable projects. Excursions into the immediate surroundings are organised whenever they fit the group’s theme. For the very youngest we provide bottle feeding, fruit and drinks and work closely with parents to align sleeping and feeding routines. We have separate sleeping areas and use gentle care products. Our familiar faces ensure continuity and security; children get to know all staff members and vice versa.
