Kindercentrum 'De Groene Helden'

Welcome to Kindercentrum ‘De Groene Helden’ in Nieuwleusen, our green daycare centre located at Zandspeur 91. We provide care for children aged 0 to 4 years in one vertical group with a maximum of 13 children. Since 2009 we have been housed in a former tree nursery and we offer 1.5 hectares of outdoor space. Children sleep outside, eat and drink outside and experience nature with all their senses. On our grounds you will find a small children’s farm with dwarf goats, rabbits and chickens, a trampoline, a fallen tree trunk for climbing, a ‘beach’, a dry pond, a play hill with an underground tunnel system, a willow tunnel, a fire pit and a wooden construction house. We follow a unique green vision: children learn to set their own boundaries and develop respect for nature, animals and each other. Every day we offer a music or yoga lesson and we use the Uk & Puk Early Childhood Education programme to stimulate language and cognitive development. All our pedagogical staff have completed both the basic and advanced VVE courses; one colleague is even trained as a ‘train-the-trainer’ to continuously coach the team. Since 2017 we have been using ‘coaching on the floor’ to ensure the quality of our guidance remains optimal every day. Healthy nutrition and self-reliance are high on our agenda. We regularly pick berries and blackberries to make something tasty, care for our animals, take morning walks and light a safe fire together. Everything takes place outdoors, giving children plenty of space to move, explore and relax. Even the youngest children sleep outside in special outdoor sleeping bags.
