Kindercentrum De Bombardon

De Bombardon has been a warm, parent-run daycare in the heart of Utrecht since 1982, located in a former infant school at Bouwstraat 53. We provide day care for children from 3 months to 4 years according to the parent-participation crèche (OPC) model: parents work one fixed half-day a week in the group and may bring their child for up to two full days besides. Together we create a safe, homely place where up to 16 children can play, explore and grow at the same time. Our spacious, bright premises feature two large indoor areas: a living room where we eat, craft and play quietly together, and a playroom with slide, climbing equipment and dance corner. Four separate bedrooms adjoin the back garden, so even the youngest can nap peacefully. The yard is a real children’s paradise: a large, sheltered schoolyard full of bikes, sandpit, play kitchen, shop and picnic tables. We follow a fixed daily rhythm that encourages outdoor play as much as possible. Mornings start between 08:15 and 09:15 with coffee for parents and a calm handover. Then fruit and water, followed by activities such as clay work, drawing, dancing, reading aloud or simply romping around. At midday we all eat from our own lunchboxes and make time for a story or songs. The day ends around 17:15. As a parent cooperative we decide together how our childcare looks: healthy, tasty food, attention for every child and a close-knit community of parents supporting each other. We are officially recognised, comply with all GGD guidelines and offer low-threshold, affordable childcare with entitlement to childcare allowance. Curious?
