Kindcentrum Wijs - de Verbeelding

Welcome to Kindcentrum Wijs – de Verbeelding, our second location in the heart of Monnickendam, housed in the characteristic Resurrection Church at Graaf Willemlaan 1. Since spring 2024 we have opened the doors of an outdoor after-school care centre where nature experience and talent development take centre stage. We provide after-school care for up to 30 children aged 4 to 13. At de Verbeelding we believe the most beautiful discoveries happen outside. We gather daily in the church hall for a shared start, but then head out into nature. Together with the children we explore the Hemmeland and the surroundings of Monnickendam: we build tree houses, learn which plants are edible, search for insects and get wonderfully muddy. For the older children (8-13) the focus is on survival skills, adventure and designing their own challenging outdoor projects. Our activities are organised into five fixed groups, each led by a Wijs coach with matching expertise. Chef-Kids stands for healthy and creative cooking, Tech-Kids for crafting and technical challenges, Gym-Kids for sports and movement, Art-Kids for drawing, painting and handicrafts, and Tuin-Kids for gardening and everything to do with plants and animals. Children choose for themselves what they want to develop in; we facilitate, stimulate and guide where necessary. Our team consists of a close-knit group of professionals. Dorinda is our nature and garden expert, Annabel is training to become a Wijs coach and Mandy has strengthened the team since March 2025 with her enthusiasm and experience. Together we ensure that every child feels safe, seen and challenged. We work from wonder and imagination, so that children stay curious and discover what they are good at. Kindcentrum Wijs – de Verbeelding is for anyone looking for an outdoor after-school care where adventure, nature and personal growth go hand in hand. We offer care from just one fixed day per week and can pick up and drop off children by cargo bike for sports or music lessons if desired.
