Welcome to Kiekeboe Kinderopvang BV – Drakenkasteel, our after-school care centre located at Zinzendorflaan 1A in Zeist. We provide out-of-school care for 22 children aged 4 to 12. Our team of professional pedagogical staff is ready every weekday to offer children a safe, homely and challenging environment after school. At Drakenkasteel we work from the four pedagogical core goals defined by professor Riksen-Walraven: providing emotional security, stimulating autonomy, developing social competence and transferring values and norms. The pedagogical staff stay close to the children, often sitting low on the floor with an open, friendly attitude. They observe, name emotions and respond with words, a hug or a reassuring gesture. We use a fixed core group so that every child is surrounded by familiar faces. After school the children enjoy a joint meal; bread meals, fruit and drinks are included. Allergies and special dietary requirements can be accommodated in consultation with parents. Children can then choose between quiet corners with books and games or active zones where they can build, craft or play sports. We have a spacious garden with play equipment and natural elements; when the weather is nice we spend a lot of time outdoors. Parents stay involved through our parent portal. Each group has an iPad on which the pedagogical staff member writes a short daily report, so you can see exactly how the afternoon went.
