Kids Villa Hengelo

Kids Villa Hengelo is a small-scale daycare centre for children aged 0 to 4, located at Schalkburgerstraat 25 in Hengelo. We are part of Kindercentrum Twente, a private, non-chain organisation that keeps lines short and can flexibly meet parents’ needs. Our location accommodates up to 45 children, divided into three horizontal age groups. Babyvilla and Rupsjes are for children from 0 to about 1.5 years, Popjes for 1.5 to 2.5 years, and Vlinders for the oldest children from 2.5 to 4 years. We aim to create a family-like atmosphere in which every child feels safe, secure and at home. All of our pedagogical staff are qualified and trained in first aid or emergency response. Each group has permanent staff members who are placed according to their expertise and affinity with the age group. In addition, every employee contributes to side tasks such as hygiene policy, nutrition and child-centred activities, ensuring everyone is involved in the daily running of Kids Villa. Sleeping is tailored to the child’s needs. The youngest children sleep when they are tired, either in a hammock in the group, in the baby bedroom or outside in special outdoor cribs. Popjes have a fixed naptime after lunch in their own bedroom, and Vlinders may sleep in an adjacent bedroom if needed. Outdoor sleeping is also an option. Mealtimes are seen as an important pedagogical moment. Children from the Popjes group onwards enjoy a warm, home-cooked meal prepared fresh by our pedagogical staff. Parents of children in Babyvilla and Rupsjes provide their own food. We take special dietary requirements into account and serve only healthy, fresh products: fruit, water, tea, milk, healthy sandwich fillings and pure warm meals. Children are encouraged to feed themselves, following the principle ‘seeing eating leads to doing eating’. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 18:00, and on some days until 19:00. This provides ample childcare for parents with irregular working hours or their own business. You no longer need to prepare a meal at home and can enjoy quality time with your child right away. At Kids Villa Hengelo the child is central: every child is unique and is given the space to develop at their own pace, with plenty of attention to self-confidence and independence.
