Kids2b BSO Kaakheem

Kids2b Kaakheem is located at Sportlaan 6 in Ten Boer and is the natural out-of-school care location for children aged 7 and older. Situated right next to our main site, between the woods and the local ice- and skating-rink, the space welcomes up to 24 children and is fully geared towards adventure, discovery and outdoor play. Every afternoon starts outside. Children dash into the forest, build treasure hunts, collect leaves, branches and chestnuts and turn them into handmade toys or games. In our own vegetable garden we harvest vegetables and herbs and use them to cook soup, pancakes or pizza together in our outdoor kitchen. The adjacent skating rink is used for skating, skate-boarding or scootering – we keep a supply of skates and scooters ready. Our pedagogical staff give children freedom to make their own choices while providing enough structure to experiment safely. We work with fixed groups and a clear daily rhythm: arrival, outdoor play, activity or free choice, shared meal and then more play until parents arrive. Each week has a different theme – think ‘jungle adventure’, ‘pirate sea’ or ‘mini chefs’ – but children can always decide whether to join in. Children younger than 7 are welcome at our sister location Kids2b Ten Boer, literally 20 metres away. This keeps brothers and sisters close to each other. We are open 5 days a week from the end of the school day until 18.30. During teacher training days and school holidays we offer full-day care, always following the same adventurous concept. Parents tell us their children often ‘don’t want to leave’ at the end of the afternoon – the greatest compliment we can get.
