KDV Bovensmilde De Kiem

KDV De Kiem is located at Floralaan 1A in the centre of Bovensmilde and forms part of the modern multi-functional complex De Kiem. Operated by Kids First, we provide day-care for children aged 0–4 in a safe, homely environment where development is key. Our group room is arranged into play corners such as a home corner, reading corner and car corner. Children can freely choose their materials and are given space to explore, play and learn. We follow a clear pedagogical policy focused on emotional safety, personal and social competence, and the transmission of values. Our qualified staff guide children in their mutual interactions, encourage co-operation and help them make contact with others. We offer activities that promote consultation, helping one another and sharing emotions. When getting ready to go outside, children learn to put on their own shoes and coats; we assist with zips or scarves when needed and celebrate every successful moment together. KDV De Kiem provides pre-school education (VVE) using a structured programme that stimulates development in language, numeracy, motor skills and social-emotional areas. From the age of 2½, children can receive at least 960 hours of VVE over one-and-a-half years, spread over a minimum of four sessions of 2½ hours per week. We work with fixed core groups and take age composition into account so that every child receives the right level of challenge and guidance. Our premises are secure, include a private outdoor play area and quiet sleeping rooms. We maintain an open-door policy for parents and have an active parent committee.
