Kids and Carrots aan de Fahrenheitstraat

Kids and Carrots on Fahrenheitstraat is a warm, home-like daycare centre in the Valkenboskwartier district of The Hague, just a short walk from Valkenbosplein. We provide care for up to 44 children aged 0–4 years in four horizontal groups: two baby groups, one toddler group and one toddler-plus group. By deliberately keeping group sizes small—never more than 12 children per group instead of the legally permitted 16—we create calm, space and personal attention for every child. Our pedagogical approach is inspired by the principles of Emmi Pikler, Thomas Gordon and the Reggio Emilia philosophy of Loris Malaguzzi. We believe in positive guidance, free expression and an environment where children feel safe and valued. Every day we work on language development, creative expression and social skills through singing, reading aloud, arts & crafts and discovery in our richly equipped rooms and adjoining garden. All our food is 100 % organic and freshly prepared each day. Lunch is a complete meal with at least three kinds of vegetables, and snacks are healthy and organic too. We accommodate allergies and dietary preferences. For the youngest we provide bottle feeding and nappy changes; nappies and wipes are included. A regular yoga, music or art teacher visits weekly to stimulate the children in a playful way. Outdoor play is a fixed part of the day: our secure garden offers plenty of room to run, climb and explore. We look forward to welcoming your child into our caring, small-scale community.
