Peuteropvang Zonnewijzer

Peuteropvang Zonnewijzer is located inside the Protestant-Christian primary school De Zonnewijzer at Zonnehout 1 in Houten. We provide care and development for children aged 2 to 4 in a safe, familiar environment. When the children arrive, our staff greet each child personally; we then start the circle-time in which we focus on the current theme through games, songs and story-telling. We use the Uk & Puk method and also incorporate Biblical themes. After circle-time children can choose free play or join an activity. We offer varied activities every day such as arts & crafts, music and reading. Outdoor play is part of the daily routine; our own garden and the school playground give plenty of space to run, climb and explore. We regularly organise excursions, for example a visit to see the lambs or an autumn walk in the woods. Birthdays are celebrated in style with cake, singing and a small present. Peuteropvang Zonnewijzer is recognised as an early-education (VE) site. Children with a VE indication receive extra language stimulation: we practise speaking, listening and learning new words so they are well prepared for primary school. We take allergies into account and provide healthy snacks and drinks. Half-day care is available; the morning ends with a closing circle and at 12.30 the children can go home.
