UniKidz Steiger

Welcome to UniKidz Steiger, our daycare centre on Steigereiland in the IJburg district. We provide care for children aged 0 to 4 in a homely setting with bright, spacious rooms and a large, sunny garden where children can play and explore to their heart’s content. A special feature of this location is the UniKidz Gebaar day-care group for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, reflecting our commitment to inclusion and diversity. Our educational programme is built around four development areas: FitKidz, MindKidz, SoulKidz and SkillsKidz. FitKidz focuses on sport and movement; children are introduced to a variety of sports and physical activities. MindKidz challenges children with STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) in our Makerspace. SoulKidz includes yoga, theatre and dance, while SkillsKidz lets children be creative in the studio, theatre or cooking studio. We also partner with local sports clubs and cultural institutions so that children can go horse-riding, swimming or take part in other talent-focused activities beyond the centre. For our toddlers (2–4 years) we offer preschool and early-years education (VVE). These programmes prepare children for primary school in a playful way and create a strong bridge to formal education. Our pedagogical staff guide children in age-based groups, ensuring a safe, familiar environment where every child can be themselves and discover their talents.
