SKSG Maansteen

SKSG KDV Toermalijn is located inside the Vensterschool Vinkhuizen at Siersteenlaan 480 in Groningen. We provide morning care for 3- and 4-year-old toddlers during school weeks, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Our single group accommodates up to 16 children and operates in close partnership with OBS Sterrensteen primary school. We follow the Dutch Early Childhood Education (VVE) programme ‘Piramide’. Every six weeks we introduce a new theme and rearrange the play areas accordingly. The room offers at least six learning corners: a home corner, shop, construction zone, dress-up area, reading nook and a theme corner. We select toys that invite children to invent their own play and explore the world around them. The location features a private inner courtyard and access to the two school playgrounds of Vensterschool. Outdoor play is part of the daily routine, giving children space to use their imagination and develop motor skills. We regularly organise outings to nearby facilities such as the skate park, petting zoo or playground. A consistent daily rhythm alternates active and quiet moments. Around 9:00 AM the children enjoy fruit or a cracker with herbal tea or water. At 11:30 AM we serve a bread-based lunch with milk. Birthdays and special events are celebrated in the group; the pedagogical staff provide a healthy treat so parents do not need to bring anything from home. Each child is assigned a mentor who serves as the primary contact for parents. We apply the ‘four-eyes’ principle: a second adult is always present or reachable. Our aim is to create a predictable, safe environment where children can act independently and have influence over their surroundings.
