KDV 't Herdertje, Spelenderwijs (Basisschool St. Lidwina)

Welcome to KDV 't Herdertje, Spelenderwijs at Basisschool St. Lidwina in Zwaagdijk-West. We are a daycare centre specially designed for toddlers aged 2 to 4. Our Spelenderwijs group is located within the primary school and offers space for up to 16 children. The close cooperation between our pedagogical staff and the kindergarten teachers at St. Lidwina creates a familiar and continuous development path from toddler to pupil. We follow a clear vision: preparing children for primary school through play. This is achieved through pre- and early childhood education (VVE), in which we introduce language, numeracy and social skills in a playful way. All activities are tailored to the world of experience of young children and stimulate curiosity, independence and cooperation. Play and learning materials are carefully selected for children from 2 years old and offer appropriate challenges. Thanks to the physical connection with the school, children get to know the teachers and pupils at an early stage. This makes the transition to the kindergarten classes smooth and familiar. Parents also appreciate this benefit: their child remains in the same safe environment and continues to see familiar faces. Our group uses a horizontal structure: children of the same age are together. This allows us to tailor activities and guidance precisely to the developmental stage of toddlers. We offer both full and half-day care, giving parents the flexibility to choose what best suits their family. Together with parents and the school, we lay the foundation for a flying start in primary school.
