KDV Struin

Welcome to KDV Struin, our nature daycare center located at Dijkgraaf van Wijckweg 11 in Nijmegen. From our Struin-house, situated at the edge of the city with direct access to Struin-land, we provide natural childcare for toddlers from 2 years old. Our location is part of Struin, a center for nature pedagogy that was the first in the Netherlands to introduce nature-based childcare, inspired by Scandinavian examples. Our pedagogical staff, experienced nature educators with in-depth knowledge of the natural environment, guide small groups of toddlers during their discovery journeys. From the Struin-house, children can safely play on our own Struin-land and visit nearby nature areas. We believe that children grow up with nature and that this green environment offers great added value for their well-being and development. The daily structure at KDV Struin is carefully tailored to the needs of toddlers. In the morning, we fully immerse ourselves in nature, where children can play freely, discover and learn. For the afternoon nap, we always return to our home in nature; the Struin-house offers quiet sleeping areas where toddlers can rest after an active morning. Through this fixed structure, children can fully enjoy nature while also getting the rest they need. Our natural approach stimulates children's development in all areas. By playing in the wilder nature, toddlers not only learn about local flora and fauna, but also develop essential skills such as cooperation, problem-solving abilities and self-confidence. We provide preschool education (VE) and consciously work with small groups to give each child the attention they deserve. KDV Struin has been officially registered since September 29, 2014 and accommodates up to 16 children. We are located on the same grounds as our BSO department, allowing toddlers to enjoy the extensive natural play environment that Struin has to offer.
