SKSG Ranonkel

Welcome to SKSG Ranonkel, a homely daycare centre located at Zuiderweg 70-8 in Hoogkerk, Groningen. We are a small-scale facility that welcomes up to 36 children aged 0-4 in three horizontal core groups: the Huismussen (0-2 years), the Uilen (2-4 years) and the Kiwi (3-4 years). Each group has its own room where tranquillity, security and challenge go hand in hand. Our large, adventurous garden is Ranonkel’s showpiece. This fully enclosed and shaded outdoor space offers natural play areas, a sand-and-water corner, an outdoor kitchen and plenty of opportunities to climb, run and explore. We believe children should experience as much freedom outside as inside; their imagination sets the tone for play. Indoors we follow the Early Childhood Education programme Startblokken. Toddlers receive at least 16 hours of preschool education per week, focusing on language, motor skills and social-emotional development. We change themes every six weeks and adapt our play corners accordingly. Activities may stem from the theme, but can just as easily arise from the children’s own interests—because having fun comes first. Our fixed daily rhythm provides structure: around 9:30 a.m. fruit and a drink, 11:30 a.m. a bread meal with milk, followed by naps or rest, and around 3:00 p.m. a light snack. In between there is time for creative corners, learning to put on coats, singing, reading aloud or simply romping in the garden. For babies we follow the home rhythm until about one year of age. Nappies and formula are included in the price; we change regularly and apply the four-eyes principle. Every child has a fixed mentor who carries out observations and conducts parent meetings. Parents can easily book extra days or swap via our app. Together we ensure that every child feels safe, seen and challenged at SKSG Ranonkel.
