Kinderopvang Warns Us Sté is a small-scale toddler day-care centre in the heart of Warns, located at Himmelumerdyk 2B. Since 5 December 2016 we have provided care for up to eight children aged 2 to 4. As a toddler day-care facility we focus specifically on the development of toddlers, working with horizontal groups: children of the same age are together. This makes our approach targeted and appropriate to the world of these young children. Our pedagogical vision is set out in the current 2025 Pedagogical Work Plan. We see play as the most important way in which children learn. Through play they develop their motor skills, language, social skills and self-image. We therefore provide time every day for free play, both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor play has a fixed place in our daily rhythm: we use our own garden and regularly make trips into the neighbourhood – for example to the village playground or a farm. We always ask parents for written permission in advance and ensure safe supervision in accordance with the statutory ratio. Creative development is encouraged through drawing, crafts and singing. We use a variety of safe and stimulating materials. Language development receives extra attention through reading aloud, singing songs and naming emotions and events. We consciously work on vocabulary and listen to what the children tell us. Social skills are practised by playing together, sharing and solving conflicts together. We emphasise that every child is unique and give positive attention to talents and characteristics. Our daily schedule is calm and predictable. We start with a shared moment, then have free play and activities. In between we enjoy a healthy snack and drink. Around lunchtime we eat together, followed by rest or nap time in our separate sleep room. The afternoon ends with another outdoor moment or creative activity. Parents receive a short update at the end of the day on how things went. Safety and trust are paramount. We apply the four-eyes principle: there is always a second adult observing or listening in. Our pedagogical staff are qualified and attend regular training. We work with familiar faces so that children become comfortable with us and we get to know them well. We pay special attention to children who need extra support, consulting with parents and seeking appropriate guidance together. We can also provide customised care for children with allergies or specific dietary needs; we always discuss this in advance in a personal conversation.
