Peuterspeelzaal 't Stekkie

Peuterspeelzaal ’t Stekkie is located inside primary school St. Theresia at Waalderweg 20 in Mariënvelde. We provide a safe and familiar place for toddlers aged 2 to 4 years. The group has a maximum of 14 children who are welcome on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Our own space is a classroom specially designed for toddlers within the school. We also make use of the school’s playroom and the spacious outdoor area. Children have plenty of room to play, discover and learn. We work with a fixed team of staff: Brigit Maarse and Ellen Weelink are present on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and Brigit Maarse is there on Friday mornings. We are also supported by two volunteers, Lidwien and Gemma. We offer a pre-school education (VVE) program, in which we work on the children’s development through play. Themes and activities are tailored to the world of experience of the toddler. We focus on language development, creative activities such as crafts and drawing, and we regularly go outside to play and explore nature. The transition to primary school is therefore smooth, as the children are already familiar with the school environment. Peuterspeelzaal ’t Stekkie is part of Stichting de Achthoek Peuterspeelzalen en Kinderopvang, an organization that provides toddler care and childcare at 14 locations in the municipality of Oost Gelre.
