Peuterspeelzaal de Knutselkookclub, located at Hagestraat 13 in the heart of Haarlem, is the place where toddlers aged 2.5 to 4 discover the joy of cooking and crafting through play. We provide small-scale childcare for up to 16 children per day, ensuring every child receives the personal attention they deserve. Our unique concept blends creative development with practical skills: while one hand holds a paintbrush, the other learns to cut, stir and taste. In this relaxed way our toddlers grow in confidence and curiosity. Each morning starts with a familiar routine. We sing a welcome song, discuss the day’s menu and choose the craft project we will work on. Children are grouped in horizontal age groups so activities perfectly match their developmental stage. The kitchen is our classroom: here we learn to count by sorting rice, discover colours with bell peppers and practise gross motor skills while kneading dough. A craft corner filled with paint, cardboard and natural materials allows us to shape a new theme every week. Our pedagogical staff – trained according to founder Emily van Rijn’s vision – guide children with patience, humour and room for personal initiative. We speak Dutch only, making language development playful and natural. Because we offer half-day sessions, parents can flexibly choose between morning or afternoon care, perfectly suited to families in central Haarlem.
