Peuteropvang De Barkentijn

Peuteropvang De Barkentijn is located at De Haerestraat 17 in the Beverwaard district of Rotterdam-Zuid. We provide 40 weeks of toddler care per calendar year for children aged 2 to 4. Care is offered on fixed half-days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) within a familiar, same-age group. Our qualified staff create a loving, creative environment in which every child’s development is central. We follow the official Early Childhood Education programme ‘Uk & Puk’. This programme offers a playful learning environment that gently prepares toddlers for primary school. Through themed activities, language and numeracy games and social play we stimulate each child’s all-round development. All activities are tailored to the world of young children and leave plenty of room for imagination and discovery. The group rooms are cosy and homely, with separate corners for play, crafts and rest. Children have access to their own sleeping area with beds and blackout curtains, allowing them to rest at their usual time. The large outdoor space – a unique, adventurous garden – invites climbing, sand play and nature exploration. We go outside every day, whatever the weather. Healthy food is a matter of course. Every day we serve a fresh, hot meal following the ‘Lekker Fit!’ concept: plenty of vegetables, whole-grain products and little sugar or salt. In between, children receive fruit and water or tea.
