Peutergroep Zonnewende

Welcome to Peutergroep Zonnewende, a small-scale toddler group located in the Heseveld district of Nijmegen. We are part of Brede School De Zonnewende and provide care for up to 14 children aged 2 to 4 within a single stable group. Our bright group room is housed in the same building as the primary school and opens directly onto a secure outdoor area where the children play and explore every day. Play-based learning is at the heart of our approach. We implement Early Childhood Education (VVE) and therefore place extra emphasis on language and speech development, early numeracy and social skills. Weekly toddler gym sessions are a fixed part of our programme: once a week we leave the group room and use the school’s gym hall to move, jump and develop gross motor skills through play. Creative activities are also used to stimulate imagination and self-expression. Our team consists of permanent, qualified pedagogical staff who know every child well. We follow the four-eyes principle: two adults are always present so that every child receives the attention they deserve. Continuity and a familiar face are important to us; each toddler has a dedicated mentor who keeps the developmental record and is the first point of contact for parents. During the morning the children receive a healthy piece of fruit and a drink. We take allergies and dietary requirements into account. Half-day sessions are possible; most toddlers attend two or three sessions a week, ensuring a smooth transition to primary school. Registration is handled through the KION service office.
