Peutergroep St. Jozefschool

Welcome to Peutergroep St. Jozefschool, a warm and small-scale toddler care centre in the heart of Moordrecht. During school weeks we welcome up to 15 children aged 2 – 4 in a safe and familiar setting. Play-based learning is at the heart of our approach: we encourage children to explore and experience while closely monitoring and stimulating their development. We follow the development-oriented Uk & Puk programme. Themes that fit the programme are woven through the whole morning. In a playful way children practise new skills in language development, social-emotional abilities, gross and fine motor skills and sensory development, and they receive their first mathematical stimuli. In this way they learn to co-operate, play together and deal with rules while both large and small motor skills are encouraged. Our toddler group is an official Early Childhood Education (ECE) site. Children with an ECE indication receive three half-days a week of extra attention to Dutch language: speaking, listening and learning new words. We do this because young children absorb language quickly and easily, enabling them to make a strong start at primary school. The day has a clear structure with fixed circle times, shared meals and free play. The children play outside on the infant playground of St. Jozefschool and thus become familiar with the school environment at an early age. The transition from toddler group to infant class is therefore smooth: the children already know the building, the teachers and the school themes. Peutergroep St. Jozefschool is part of Kind & Co Ludens and works intensively with the Roman Catholic Primary School St. Jozef. Together we form an Integrated Child Centre where children can grow up in one continuous line from early morning to the end of the day. You will find us at Oudersvrucht 3, Moordrecht.
