Peutergroep Ieniemienie

Peutergroep Ieniemienie is part of Quadrant Kindercentra and has moved to De Wingerd primary school at Van Beethovenlaan 35 in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel. We provide toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 in a homely, safe and stimulating environment. Our bright, spacious playrooms are arranged into clearly recognisable corners: a home corner, reading corner, car corner, construction corner and a theme corner that we adapt to each new topic. We also use the adjoining school playground for cycling, scooting and outdoor play, and the school gym for physical activities. We follow an early childhood education programme (VE) that prepares toddlers for primary school through play. The focus is on language development, social-emotional skills and early numeracy. Every morning starts with circle time: we sing, talk about the day and the weather, and discuss the activities ahead. Children then choose where they want to play. At 10:00 we share fruit or vegetables and name colours and tastes. After that we go outside or use the gym. Creative activities such as cutting, gluing, colouring or playing with clay, sand and water are offered daily. At 12:00 the first group is collected; children staying longer eat a sandwich together and play until 13:30. Structure, calm and predictability are important to us, so we work with a fixed daily rhythm and clear agreements. Our pedagogical staff tune in to the children’s experiences and encourage independence. Thanks to our close cooperation with De Wingerd primary school, the toddlers become familiar with the school setting, ensuring a smooth transition to group 1.
