Kdv Okkie

Kdv Okkie is a small-scale, independent foundation located at Blasiusstraat 14 H in vibrant Amsterdam-Oost, just a stone’s throw from Oosterpark. We provide care for up to 23 children aged 0 to 4, divided into horizontal age groups so every child receives the attention they deserve. Our pedagogical staff work from a clear vision: accept every child unconditionally, take feelings seriously and offer space to grow into an independent, creative and social person. The day begins calmly between 08:00 and 09:30. A predictable rhythm follows: fruit at 09:30, activities or sleep for babies until 11:30, communal lunch, an afternoon nap and more play or an excursion. We sing songs, make music with simple instruments, craft, read aloud and hold circle-time conversations where children can share their stories. Outdoor play is scheduled at least once a day: our garden offers sand, water, bikes and ride-ons; in summer we play with the hose and discover leaves and blades of grass. Care receives ample attention. Nappy changes, bottle feeding and dressing happen in complete calm, always at the child’s eye level. We have clear agreements on allergies and dietary needs; parents discuss these during the intake. Dedicated sleeping rooms with cots or beds ensure rest, while the group areas are open and inviting so children can choose where to play. Parents are our partners. In addition to daily handovers we organise parent evenings, an Easter brunch and a summer picnic. Our parent committee actively contributes to policy, meals and safety. In short: at Okkie every child and every parent feels at home in a warm, safe and stimulating environment.
