KDV Koala

KDV Koala is situated at Tuinstraat 3 in Assen and is part of Stichting SKID Kinderopvang. We provide anthroposophical daycare for children aged 0 to 4. Our approach is inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy: every child is unique and is given the space to develop at their own pace. We use natural materials, organic food and biodegradable nappies and cleaning products. The daily rhythm alternates between activity and rest, guided by the seasons and annual festivals. Our premises have been architecturally renovated and consist of two vertical groups: Raponsje/Windekind, a baby group called Duimelijn and a toddler group named Tummetot. The spacious garden borders Valkenstijn estate and the children’s farm, so the children are in daily contact with animals and nature. We offer the option for children to sleep outdoors in special sleeping cabins and we cooperate closely with the Vrije School Assen. KDV Koala carries the EKO quality mark, demonstrating our commitment to 100 % organic food and care products. We accommodate up to 62 places and follow a pedagogical policy centred on imitation, calmness, rhythm and repetition. Our qualified staff guide the children with respect, reverence and gratitude, fostering the development of the sense of touch, movement, life and balance.
