Knuffel

Peuterspeelzaal Knuffel is located on the grounds of primary school De Arcade at Octavialaan 61 in Leiden. We provide pre-school education (VE) for toddlers aged 2 to 4 years in a safe, small-scale setting with a maximum of 16 children per day. Our playgroup is part of Stichting Leidse Peuterspeelzalen (SPL), a parent association with over 50 years of experience in developing young children. At Knuffel, we work with a fixed daily routine that provides peace and structure. The morning starts with free play, followed by a joint moment of singing and reading aloud. Then we go outside to our own playground where children can run, cycle and discover. After the outdoor period, there is a healthy snack followed by an activity such as crafts or games. We end with a quiet moment, where children who still need a nap can sleep in our quiet sleeping area. Our pedagogical staff are specialized in toddler development and work according to the principles of the VVE program. We follow each child at their own pace and stimulate development in all areas: language, motor skills, social skills and independence. We work with themes that connect to the world of experience of young children and use the natural curiosity of toddlers to learn. As a parent association, we find parent involvement very important. We regularly organize parent evenings and parent-child activities. Parents can also help in the playgroup as volunteers, creating a close-knit community around our children.
